26-Member FNCCI Team off to Thailand

Will study Thai OVOP model

A 26-member team of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) led by FNCCI vice-president Krishna Prasad Tamrakar today left for Thailand to study the `One Village, One Programme' (OVOP). According to an FNCCI statement, the team will study Thailand's OVOP model, its quality and impact.

After its implementation, OVOP has hugely support- ed the economy of Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, China and Cambodia. The aim of the programme is to develop and promote products from the local level and develop brands at the in- ternational level.

Meanwhile, in a press in- teraction programme here, representatives of the Sunsari Chamber of Commerce and Industry forwarded a memorandum to FNCCI calling for the development of Dharan as a major tourist spot.

Speaking in the programme, Sunsari Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Ashok Tamrakar urged for national planning to be develop Dharan as a tourist spot.

According to him, though Dharan is a centre of tourist attraction it still has possi bilities for more develop ment so that it can attract more tourists.

"We want a Public Private Partnership approach for he development works here," said Tamrakar.

FNCCI president Kush Kumar Joshi assured of sup porting in the development of Dharan and helping em ployment opportunities to increase at the local level.
