Consumer Expo Aims at Dashain Shoppers

"We have targeted Dashain shoppers, and since this is our first expo we are not looking into the income generation aspect. Instead we are providing people the opportunity to shop under one roof for every conceivable product," said Sunil Bisht, organiser and expo manager.

Yesterday, on the first day of the expo saw about 5,000 visitors and the organisers are expecting approximately 100,000 by the end of tomorrow.

The first Business and Consumer Expo organised by Sutra International that started at Bhrikuti Mandap yesterday will last till September 13. Targeted at the Dashain season, the expo is looking to provide shopping solutions for a mixed bag of products under one roof.

"We started very late yesterday but we are banking on tomorrow as it is a Saturday," added Bisht.

Among the 102 stalls, well known products like Dabur, Himalayan Herbals, Samsung, United Citizens Savings and Credit Cooperation have put up their stalls. Samsung THT launched its new waterproof phone at this expo.

To attract consumers to the expo, the organisers are banking on entertainment programmes like fashion shows, magic show and a live concert.
"We are aiming to provide people not just the opportunity to shop but also recreational relief with entertainment programmes as well as food stalls," said Bisht.

"We are guaranteeing that the expo is different and not one segment specific the organisers said "we have a range of products from clothes, food, to all household appliances," he said Though the influx of people has been less than anticipated the organisers are expecting more people over Saturday.
