Festive Offers for Luring Customers

The festival season has brought a plethora of consumer offers for people as a bonanza.

The large number of special discounts, bumper offers, scratch and win, lucky draws and buy one-get one free nowadays has become a part of the festival season.

With just a week remaining for Dashain, the biggest festival of Hindus, consumers are in shop-till-theydrop mode. There is a rash of advertisements promising special features to attract customers -- be it the television, radio or print media.

Advertising Association of Nepal (AAN) president Nirmal Raj Poudel opined that the festival season targets large sales compared to normal days as the purchasing capacity of people is higher during festive season. Competition is obvious in the market, given the number of products with their respective schemes. "Be it electronic appliances, automobiles, clothing stores or consumer products, customers can get huge discout offers during the festival season,"
Poudel said.

He pointed out that that for this advertisement is the driving factor. "Festival season is the only period when customers make large purchases at economy rates due to offers and schemes.

The market too has a number of alternatives in terms of varieties of products. Despite the huge discounts, the sellers also get good profits due to bulk sale during festivals."

According to an advertisement strategist, the extra offers that companies provide during the festival season comprise 60 per cent of total sales made throughout the year.

"There is always a right time for the right thing. And the festive season is the right time for schemes and offers.
During festival season, people have greater capacity for spending as they are flush with their bonus," said Geeta Neupane, Marketing Executive at Tele Talk Pvt Ltd which is the sole distributor of Spice Mobile Phones. For Dashain and Tihar festivals Tele Talk has its offers with cash discounts and free gifts on every purchase of Spice mobiles.

"Offers and schemes have an instant impact on the market and consumers get a better idea of products,"
said Neupane.

CG Electronics Pvt Ltd has also come up with festive scheme - AHAI LG offering a wide range of LG prizes.
For this festive season Golcha Organisation has its scheme Bajaj Sun, Chandi, Hira, Moti in which on the purchase of Bajaj motorcycle one can win gold, silver and pearls after getting a scratch card.

Meanwhile, Syakar Company Ltd has its scratch and win offer under which customers can win up to Rs 1 lakh on the purchase of Hero Honda bikes. It also has a discount offer of Rs 4000 and a free helmet guaranteed on every purchase.
