Tourism Vision 2020

Nepal Tourism Board has brought a new strategy, ‘Tourism Vision 2020’, to improve livelihood and spread benefits of tourism. According to it, based on the strength of tourism sites, volume of tourism activities and existing infrastructure, one district in each ecological belt and development region will be selected as tourism hubs. Five developments region will be categorized into three ecological belts, namely Mountain, Hill and Tarai, under the tourism master plan draft 2008. In each hub, potential places will be identified and developed as tourism satellite sites. There will be increased government spending on the tourism sector to attract private investment. The vision also has strategies for destination marketing and promotion of Nepal by establishing tourism brands. It aims for a full-fledged second international airport, airports in Pokhara and Bhairawa as regional international airports and transforming seasonal airports into year-round operational ones. Tourism Vision also includes strategies for lobbying with other government line agencies to create land transportation network to link Nepal with India, Bangladesh and China.
