Haat Bazaar Popular

Though markets are centralised in city areas, the importance of Haat Bazaar in Banke district has not diminished. Haat Bazaar is an easy medium for buying daily consumer goods for villagers in the district.

However, the authorities concerned have not paid sufficient attention to its proper management. Haat Bazaars run in Kohalpur and Khajura have proven a boon for locals. Locals’ economic status has upgraded after their agricultural and animal produce got a market place. Rajesh Chaudhary of Kohalpur-3 said he earned Rs 15,000 in a month by selling commercially grown vegetables after the Haat Bazaar resumed. Bharat Adhikari said he gave up the idea of leaving for India and instead started rearing animals and growing vegetables after the resumption of Haat Bazaar.
