Spice Nepal to Appoint A New CEO

The Spice Nepal Private Limited board of directors has decided to initiate a search process for a new CEO of Spice Nepal. 


When assessing the future potential of Spice Nepal, the board concluded that the company, in order to deliver on its strategic objectives, will benefit from a new leadership.


The present CEO of Spice Nepal, Mr Dilip Singh, will leave his position in Spice Nepal as of today May 13, 2009. Mr Pasi Koistinen will take charge as acting CEO with immediate effect. The board has initiated a search process for a new CEO.


For the past three months Mr Pasi Koistinen has been the CEO of the number four mobile operator in Cambodia, Applifone Co. Ltd. Previously, he has held several managerial positions in TeliaSonera.


Spice Nepal/Mero Mobile is part of TeliaSonera, Europe’s 7th largest telecommunication operator in terms of market value at year-end 2008. In the emerging markets of Eurasia, TeliaSonera has majority holdings in leading mobile operators of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Nepal and Cambodia. TeliaSonera is also a minority owner of MegaFon in Russia and Turkcell in Turkey.
