Fair Trade World Meet From May 17

World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) and Fair Trade Group Nepal (FTGN) will jointly to organize the 10th bi-annual conference ‘WFTO Global Conference 2009’ in Kathmandu from May 17 to 21. WFTO and FTGN have completed the necessary arrangements for the conference.

WFTO is promoting transparency and equity in trade and commerce through environmentally and socially responsible production patterns.

The conference slogan will be: ‘WFTO: The Voice of Fair Trade’.

According to FTGN, around 250 fair trade groups will participate in the conference, which focuses on market access for marginalized producers.

Delegates at the conference will discuss trade and commerce along with climate change, sustainable business, current economic recession and fair trade management system.

Founder of Bangladesh Rural Advancement (BARC) Fazle Hasan Abed will deliver the keynote speech on the importance of fair trade.

A new WFTO logo will also be launched during the conference to make fair trade a global brand.
