NRN Convention From October 13

Non-Resident Nepalis-Association (NRNA) is preparing to organise an NRN convention in Kathmandu on October 13-15.

The convention to be held at Soaltee Crowne Plaza will see several pre-conference activities like professional networking and literary festival from October 10.

The conference aims to increase its membership to more than 1000 members, said a source. The convention also will hold its ICC election. "Every other year, NRN International Coordinating Council holds an election to elect a president, two vice-presidents, a general secretary, treasurer and secretary. ICC has also urged all NRNA members and prospective candidates to be present in Kathmandu and attend the conference. Delegates from all the countries will be eligible to vote. "As per by-laws, 10 country members are represented by one delegate. There were 36 delegates from North America in 2007, said NRNA of the USA.

This time around it is expecting to increase the number of delegates, the association said. To be eligible to vote for any NRN motions and in elections, one must be a member of NRN National Coordinating Council.
