Gold Sale Likely to be Brisk This Dashain

Jewellery purchases are mounting in the run-up to the festival season. Despite skyrocketing gold prices, people are eager to invest in gold.

Mani Ratna Shakya, senior vice-president of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association (NEGOSIDA) said that compared to last year they have observed an increase in gold transactions in the local market.

"According to the annual report of gold transaction last year, on an average there was a fall of 6 kg per day," said Shakya. He added that this year gold transaction is quite high.

"There was a transaction of around 15 kg per day during Teej and we are expecting that the transaction during Dashain and Tihar will be 1516 kg per day," Shakya said.
