GO AUTOMOBILES ROLLS OUT FORD ECOSPORT

GOAutomobiles, the sole authorised distributor of American auto major Ford, has launched the Ford Ecosport in the domestic market. The company said that the SUV would draw people away from sedans and hatchbacks. Deepesh Shakya, sales manager at Go Automobiles, said they rolled out the Ford Ecosport due to growing demand for SUVs in the domestic market. “We are hopeful that the car will entice mainly people who are planning to buy premium sedans or luxurious hatchbacks,” he said. “We received 10 bookings in the two days since its launch.” Go Ford said that the products would provide a complete package for urban people aspiring to purchase a car with practicality, efficiency, reliability and attractiveness. The company has introduced 10 models of the Ford Ecosport in the market. They come with three engine options. Similarly, the SUVs are available in seven colours -- Mars Red, Kinetic Blue, Moondust Silver, Panther

Black, Sea Grey, Chill and Diamond White. The Ecosport is equipped with a 1.0 l three-cylinder Ecoboost engine that derives a maximum power output of 118 bhp and 170 nm at 1,500 rpm. The SUV comes in both petrol and diesel versions. The diesel variant has a four-cylinder 1.5 l, 8V SOHC engine which churns out a maximum power output of 90 bhp at 3,750 rpm and 204 nm at 2,000 rpm. The vehicle is equipped with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission system. Despite being an SUV, the Ecosport has an advantage in terms of fuel efficiency. According to Go Ford, the vehicle’s 1.0 l petrol engine is 20 percent more efficient than a 1.6 l petrol engine even though it produces a similar amount of power. As per ARAI certification, the petrol variant gives a mileage of 16 kpl in the city and 20 kpl on the highway. The diesel variant too is efficient in comparison to other vehicles in this category, with a mileage of around 15 kpl in the city and 17-18 kpl on the highway. The Ecosport gœs from 0 to 100 in less than 10 seconds, and has a top speed of 170 kph. The diesel variant, which has a top speed of 160 kph, can go from 0 to 100 in 12 seconds. The Ecosport features additional comforts including power windows, air conditioning, central locking system, remote boot and fuel filler system, rear wiper, rear defogger, rear armrest with cup holder and both side electric door mirror. With regard to safety features, the SUV has a burglar alarm, front and side curtain airbags, antilock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), electronic stability programme (ESP), traction control and hill launch assist (HLA) system.
