CAMC to submit feasibility report on Pokhara airport this week

The Chinese company will submit the draft report of its feasibility study of Pokhara Regional International Airport this week. “The draft report of the feasibility study is almost complete and we are looking forward to receive the report this week,” said deputy director general of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Suman Shrestha. According to Shrestha, soon after completing proper analysis of the report, the authority will move ahead with necessary procedure to sign a commercial agreement with the Chinese company CAMC. “The report might have some chances with some added new plans and the estimated cost will be studied thoroughly,” he said. The much-awaited deal of the Pokhara Regional International Airport will be signed within two months, CAAN said. After the cabinet’s decision to move ahead with the project, CAMC showed its interest in starting a detailed feasibility study of the airport. The company wanted to carry a detailed feasibility study and prepare a report for the government before starting the project. The project ran into controversy after the tender was awarded to the Chinese company at $305 million that was much higher than the quoted project price.
