MERCANTILE Office Systems (MOS), a subsidiary of the Mercantile Group, has been appointed the sole authorised distributor of Emerson network power products for the Nepal market. MOS has introduced Emerson's Liebert uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for individual data centre solutions to integrated systems that keep network closets, computer rooms and data centre infrastructure up and running. Headquartered in the US, Emerson is a diversified global manufacturing and technology company offering a wide range of products and services in the industrial, commercial and consumer markets. The company, which has been in the business since 1890, maintains a business network in more than 150 countries. "The new products from Emerson will cater to the needs of end users, offices and homes. These products have been introduced keeping in mind the demand of people who do not mind paying a bit more for quality products and services," said Raj Prajapati, sales manager at MOS. The company has witnessed very high demand for such products in all the segments including corporate, residential and personal, he added. Emerson's new offering, the Liebert iTON series with power capability of 600 VA and 1000 VA, is a line interactive UPS that provides perfect power protection for small offices and home personal computer (PC) systems. The entry-level device from Emerson can be used with mail servers, desktop speakers, printers and voicemail and e-home PCs. Another model, the Liebert GXT MT Plus which comes in 1, 2 and 3 kVA power options, features comprehensive specifications, satisfies safety criteria and electromagnetic compatibility standards, and offers intelligent monitoring and network management functions, the company said. According to MOS, the device satisfies the requirement for high reliability and high availability of AC power supply. The device can be used in small size data centres, telecommunication VoIP, small office networks and data warehouses, among others. The Liebert GXT RT Plus, the other new offering from Emerson, is a rack mount UPS available in power options of 1, 2 and 3 kVA. According to MOS, it is a true online double conversion UPS system with automatic bypass allowing transferring the load to the mains in case of overload or internal fault. It also features emergency power off (EPO) and energy saving (ECO) mode. It is user-friendly and its LCD display and smart battery charger are designed for optimal battery performance. The device is an ideal choice for PCs and work stations, small and medium server rooms, data enter, network closets and VoIP and telecoms. Similarly, the Liebert Adapt BX 6 kVA Online UPS delivers optimized performance with high reliability and scalability. The company has stated that it can be used in small IDC rooms, network rooms, business operating rooms and labs and instrument rooms, while the Liebert ITA series of online UPS having capability of 6, 10 and 20 kVA is an ideal choice for big factories and corporate houses. The device is also the perfect choice for telecommunication companies, the company said. According to Prajapati, these devices are available in major cities of the country through channel partners of Mercantile. "Since people are aware about the loss one has to bear in case of a sudden power outage, more and more people are buying such devices," Prajapati said. MOS stated that all these products come with a two-year warranty while the internal battery has a oneyear warranty. "In case of any problem, we will provide our clients a temporary replacement while their equipment is being serviced," he said. MOS said that prices start from Rs 6,000 for entry-level devices to Rs 70,000 for those with a capacity of 3 kVA.
