FHAN emphasises on energy management


The Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN) organised a programme on ‘Energy Minimisation and Productivity Enhancement used in Industrial Furnace’. It was organised in association with the Industrial Energy Management Project under the Ministry of Industry. Speaking during the programme, president of FHAN Hem Ratna Shakya focused on the different activities organised for the promotion and development of the Nepali handicraft industry and its exports. He also informed about various technologies used to minimise wastage of energy in the industry. “We are facing high energy crisis, therefore, to manage the crisis we need to minimise wastage of energy in the industrial sector by using effective technol ogy,” said Shakya. Meanwhile, joint secretary at the Ministry of Industry Yam Kumari Khatiwada informed about the lack of natural resources to generate required energy and the increasing energy cost. She also spoke about proper management of energy to overcome the energy crisis in the industrial sector. Khatiwada also expressed her pleasure on the government’s decision to provide land for the development of the SAARC Design Development Centre at Tripureshwor. Chief of Industrial Energy Management Project Kamal Manandhar said that industrialists should now focus on ways to minimise wastage of energy. Meanwhile, Khatiwada suggested that handicraft sector, and small, cottage and micro industry should work together for the benefit of all through proper utilisation of energy.
