Students from marginalised, ethnic and dalit communities of 18 community schools of Nawalparasi district constituency No 1 received Rs 5,000 scholarship each.
Chaudhary Group (CG) -- one of the leading industrial houses -- also announced scholarships to a son and a daughter of labourers of Chaudhary Industrial Village. Two students pursuing technical education at Manmohan Polytechnical Institute at Biratnagar were also awarded full scholarship for their studies. The cost of technical education at Manamohan Polytechnical Institute comes to around Rs 3,00,000 yearly.
"Government efforts alone cannot bring positive results in the education sector," said CG president Binod Kumar Chaudhary. "Therefore, CG decided to support education in community schools," he said adding that education and sports will be two focus area of CG Cares -- a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Chaudhary Group. Earlier on Monday, famour comedian duo Madan Krishna Acharya and Haribansha Acharya launched the CG Cares logo.
