Nepal Telecom (NT) has launched Sky Pro Internet service using EVDO technology in Gandaki zone from Wednesday. The state-owned operator plans to launch the service in Dhaulagiri zone on Thursday. NT is issuing R-UIM cards bundled with USB dongles to the buyers.
Issuing a press statement, NT´s regional office in Pokhara said users can enjoy voice as well as broadband data at the speed of 3.1 Mpbs by using Sky Pro. On purchase of Sky Pro package costing Rs 2,359, users will get USB Dongle with 1 GB memory card, an R-UIM card with talk value of Rs 100 and 5 GB of data. The validity period of data is three months.
The service is available in Kaski, Gorkha, Tanahu, Syangja and Lamjung districts of Gandaki and Baglung, Parbat and Myagdi districts of Dhaulagiri.
NT plans to expand EVDO service in Manang and Mustang very soon, according to Prakashman Pradhan, chief of NT´s Regional Office Pokhara.
NT has CDMA network in all 75 districts of the country. Similarly, EVDO network has been expanded to headquarters and business centers of 45 districts. The state-owned operator plans to expand EVDO network to all remaining districts by the Dashain festival (mid-October).
