Satellite telephone service in a rural VDC of Gorkha district has halted. Locals of Chumling at Chumchet VDC-9, northern Gorkha, had been using uninterrupted satellite telephone service since more than a year. According to former VDC chairman Gopal Lama, the telephone based in the VDC has ceased to function, depriving villagers of telephone service. Currently, locals are forced to walk for hours to make phone calls.
