Parsa-Bara Industrial Corridor gets industrial security force

THE Parsa-Bara Industrial Corridor has for the first time got security from the Industrial and Revenue Security Force (ISRF). An ISRF unit has been set up at Lipanimal-6, Parwanipur, along the corridor. Chief District Officer Kailash Kumar Bajimaya said the ISRF battalion was installed a week ago. The battalion, headed by Armed Police Force Deputy Superintendent of Police Bishwa Kumar Bhattarai, consists of 160 personnel. The setting up of the ISRF unit has pleased the industrialists. Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Ashok Vaidya said their long standing demand was fulfilled. He expressed his hope that the entrepreneurs’ compulsion to work under insecurity would come to an end with the presence of the ISRF unit. “There will be improvement in working environment in the production business,” he said. “The entrepreneurs as well as the chamber itself are ready to coordinate and cooperate with government.” The location of the ISRF battalion ensures easy monitoring of production businesses in Parsa, Bara and Rautahat, said the entrepreneurs, it would end threats and intimidation. The APF started mobilising its personnel since March at different industrial areas after the government passed a directive on forming the ISRF. According to the APF, the new force will provide security to factories and fight smuggling along the border. The stationing of the ISRF had been delayed due to the lack of proper guideline on where and how the forces would be mobilized. For this, the Home Ministry has been preparing a separate guideline. Home Secretary Shankar Koirala said the ministry and other bodies concerned are working on the guideline to monitor the deployment of ISRF units. “Based on previous directive, APF has already started deploying the personnel at local level,” he said. The ISRF unit set up at Lipanimal-6, Parwanipur, along the corridor consists of 160 APF personnel
