NTB bags best print promotion award in Gujarat fair


Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) won the best print promotion award, attributed to excellent combination of both content and substance in Travel & Tourism Fair, (TTF) 2013, held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat from August 16 to 18. According to a NTB press statement, NTB participated in the fair with an aim of increasing awareness and educating the Indian travelers on Nepal´s tourism products, targeting upcoming season of Dashara and Puja Holidays in Gujurat. Commemorating this year as Mount Everest Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, Nepal is marketed as an ultimate adventure destination that is rarely found anywhere else in the world. This comes at a time when Indian adventure enthusiasts are seen exploring manifold adventure travel options, added the statement. NTB and the participating agencies from Nepal -- Yeti Airlines Domestic, Monterosa Treks and Expedition, Nepal Holiday Maker Tours and Travel, Fishtail Tours and Travels, Himalayan Glory Travels and Tours and Abhiwadan Holidays -- engaged in both B2B and B2C promotion during the fair. Amongst many exciting options, the private sector had customized various lucrative packages for the Indian tourists at the fair. Muktinath pilgrimage tour, leisure and soft adventure activities drew special attractions, according to the statement. “Keen interests shown by the travel trade visitors toward Nepal prove that Indians are regaining their confidence to travel to Nepal,” said Sarad Pradhan, media consultant of NTB. India is the most significant market for the Nepalis tourism industry with approximately one-third of the total market share. Indian market is important both in terms of value and volume. According to NTB statistics, in 2012, Nepal received 165,815 tourists from India by air which is an increment by 20.6 percent compared to 2011. Till July 2013 only, Nepal received 89,500 tourists from India.
