INDIAN tech major HCL has entered the alreadycrowded Nepali tablet market with four new models — ME U2, ME V1, ME Y3 and ME G1. Neoteric Nepal, HCL’s sole authorised distributor for Nepal, has said the new devices from HCL will enable users to “empower themselves at a reasonable price”. “The performance of HCL tablets is smooth and responsive. These devices are housed in a slim metal structure and weighs light, making them very easy to carry and hold,” the company said. “It fulfills users’ basic requirements like accessing and replying mails, browsing websites as well as engaging with exciting games or through video chat with friends and colleagues.” The company has said the devices also cater to the demand of those looking for applications through its ME App store. The HCL ME U2 runs Android 4.0.4 (Ice-Cream Sandwich) OS which has been mated with 1GHz cortex A9 processor. The device sports a 7-inch WVGA display and 0.3- MP front facing camera for making video calls. The device, however, dœsn’t have a rear camera. As for the memory, the device has got an internal storage capability of 4GB, which can be expanded to up to 32 GB through a microSD card. Likewise, the ME G1 also runs Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, but it has been mated with 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. It has got a 9.7-inch IPS display which can support videos and pictures with resolution up to 1024x768. As for camera, it boasts of a 0.3-MP front facing and 2-MP rear camera. The ME G1 has an internal storage capacity of 8 GB, which can be expanded to up to 32 GB through a microSD card. The device also features a mini HDMI port and micro USB port, among others. Its connectivity feature includes Wi- Fi and 3G. Other two devices — ME V1 and ME Y3 — feature dual SIM slots, and one of the two SIMs supports 3G data as well as voice and video calling, the company said. Both the devices run Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. While the ME V1 features a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor, the ME y3 comes with 1 GHz cortex A9 processor. The tablets come with a 7-inch WVGA display, 1 GB DDR3 RAM and internal storage capacity of 4 GB, which can be expanded up to 32 GB. HCL has powered the ME V1 tab with 2-MP rear and 0.3- MP front-facing camera, and the ME Y3 with 0.3-MP front and 3.2-MP rear camera.
