Shekhar Golchha elected NADA president


The 36th annual general meeting of Nepal Automobile Dealers´ Association (NADA) has unanimously elected Shekhar Golchha as the president. The AGM also elected 16 other members -- Gopi Krishna Neupane, Hira Lal Acharya, Dipak Thapa, Dev Kaji Shrestha, Krishna Prasad Dulal, Dipak Kumar Acharya, Sambhu Prasad Dahal, Vishnu Kumar Agrawal, Anajan Shrestha, Sanjay Kumar Khetan, Sunil Rijal, Nanda Kishor Shahi, Manoj Kumar Sethia, Kailash Bhakta Rajbhandari, Shiva Raj Giri and Narayan Prasad Paudel -- in the executive committee. NADA´s 19-member executive committee will get a complete shape after the new president nominates two executive members. According to the association, the first meeting of the newly elected executive members will select office-bearers. Speaking after being elected to the post, Golchha said he would push the government to reduce import tax on vehicles as vehicles these days are a necessity and not a luxury. Outgoing president Saurabh Jyoti urged the government to charge only 40 percent import tax on hybrid vehicles as they consume less fossil fuel. He also asked the government to stop the practice of discretionary valuation of spare parts at customs offices
