Post-Tihar, KFC & Pizza Hut Come to Town

The fast food business in the capital is pushing new frontiers. International fast food chains like Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) and Pizza Hut are all set to open their outlets here after Tihar.

Though the launch was slated between Dashain and Tihar, it got delayed due to certain unavoidable logistical constraints.

"We're importing the equipment from India, China and Thailand. We plan to open in a fortnight," said Suranjan De, CEO, Pepsi Nepal, the brain behind the fast food revolution in the country.

Authentic service coupled with quality products are the hallmark of the globally reputed brands.

The chain is sourcing chicken -- the main ingredient for KFC -- from Brazil in a bid to maintain the top-of-the-line quality. "We've hired the staff loc a l l y.
T h e y 'r e currently undergoing training at our outlets in India. We'll ensure that both the quality and taste are at par with our exacting global standards," added De. What about the pricing of the products? The price will be slightly higher than that of India since both the equipment and basic ingredients will have to be imported. De, however, assured the customers that it would be affordable.

Both the brands are aiming to target the wellheeled young adults and teenagers. Besides, the capital, true to its tourist image, has had a long association with fast food.

"We're looking at good response. These two outlets should become the talk of the town soon. Plans are afoot for gala promotions and bonanzas to woo customers," added De.

KFC has more than 13,000 branches across 80 countries. While, Pizza Hut boasts of 12,500 outlets in 91 nations.
