Rs 292m Swiss Aid for Rural Health

The Swiss government has agreed to provide Rs 292 million for the Rural Health Development Project (RHDP) phase VII.

Finance Ministry joint secretary Lal Mani Joshi and Elisabeth Von Capeller of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) signed the agreement at the Finance Ministry today.

Six phases of the project assisted by the Swiss government were completed on July 15, 2009. SDC had started the primary health careMother and Child Health and Family Planning Project from 1991 in Nepal.

In the beginning, the project had focused its service in Dolakha district and extended to Ramechhap from July 1997. It extended services to Okhaldhunga district from January 2006.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Finance read that the seventh phase of the project would improve the health status of women, disadvantaged and poor of remote areas of Dolakha, Ramechhap and Okhaldhunga districts.
